USDA Announces Availability of Low-Interest Physical Loss Loans for Producers Affected by Severe Weather in Iowa

Faribault and Martin Counties in Minnesota Eligible as Contiguous

Physical loss loans through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) can help producers repair or replace damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of the agricultural operation, including livestock losses. Examples of property commonly affected include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.

Impacted Area: Iowa

Triggering Disaster: Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, derecho, straight-line winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding occurring May 21, 2024, through May 25, 2024.

Application Deadline: January 31, 2025

Primary Counties Eligible: Allamakee, Audubon, Benton, Black Hawk, Boone, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Cass, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Clarke, Clayton, Dallas, Delaware, Emmet, Franklin, Fremont, Grundy, Guthrie, Harrison, Humboldt, Iowa, Jasper, Keokuk, Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Mills, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Ringgold, Shelby, Taylor, Union, Webster, Winnebago, Winneshiek, Worth, Wright
