The American Relief Act, 2025, signed into law on Dec. 21, 2024, extended the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (also known as the 2018 Farm Bill) for one year through Sept. 30, 2025. 

Safety-Net and Price Support Programs 

Safety net and price support programs provide peace of mind for producers who are working to manage market ups and downs. The extension authorizes the following FSA Farm Bill safety-net and price support programs to continue: 

  • Agriculture Risk (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) Programs 

    • The enrollment period is Jan. 21 to April 15. 

  • Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC)

    • The American Relief Act, 2025, extended DMC through Dec. 31, 2025.

    • The enrollment period is Jan. 29 to March 31. 

  • Dairy Indemnity Payment Program (DIPP) 

    • While the Farm Bill extension authorized the program, DIPP is funded through annual appropriations.  

  • Loan Deficiency Payments (LDP) 

  • Marketing Assistance Loans (MAL) 

  • Sugar Loans

Farm Loans

Farm loans provide access to credit to help start, improve, expand, and strengthen American farms. Ownership and operating loans as well as Inflation Reduction Act assistance for distressed borrowers are authorized outside of the Farm Bill, and this extension has no impact.

Conservation Programs

Conservation programs enable farmers and ranchers to improve water quality, reduce soil erosion, and enhance wildlife habitat. The extension authorizes the following FSA Farm Bill conservation programs to continue:

  • Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) 

    • Includes all CRP signups, including General, Continuous, CLEAR30, CREP, FWP, Grassland, SAFE, etc. 

    • 2025 signups will be announced soon. 

FSA also continues to service existing contracts, provide approved cost-share and issue program payments accordingly.

Disaster Assistance

Disaster programs provide much needed support for agricultural producers in their recovery from crop, land, infrastructure, and livestock losses and damages due to qualifying natural disaster events. FSA’s disaster assistance programs are authorized outside of the Farm Bill, and this extension has no impact.
